Difference Between Eye Related Headaches and Normal Headaches

Headaches can be caused by a multitude of things and are always unpleasant. They distract from day-to-day activities and can sometimes turn into migraines. But how do you know what the cause of your headaches are? Eye strain is one common reason that people get headaches. It can be caused by spending a long time in front of screens, reading, driving for an extended period of time, or specific eye conditions such as dry eye, injuries, degenerative eye diseases, nearsightedness and/or farsightedness, or infection. One of the easiest fixes for this is, of course, checking with your eye doctor to make sure your eyes are as healthy as they can be and are being taken care of correctly. Other than going to your optometrist to have your yearly eye exam to make sure all is well, it is important to take care of your eyes outside of this. This means wearing blue shield glasses so that blue light rays are not damaging your eyes. This goes for sunglasses and UV rays, as well. If you have been prescribed any glasses and have not been wearing them as instructed, this could be leading to discomfort. One way to take care of your eyes that many do not think of is taking care of your overall health! So make sure to drink water daily, eat healthily, get moving, and schedule you and your family members’ eye exams today at For Your Eyes Only at (678) 648-5185 with Dr. Mira K. Sivan OD AAOMC.

We look forward to hearing from you.
